YOGA TEACHER TRAININGTeaching skills and a love of yoga that will enrich and inspire you for a life-time
Are you ready to deepen into your yoga?
Are you ready to explore the question “what is yoga?” and discover how you can share the practice with others?
Are you a health care professional interested in sharing the tools of Yoga with your clients? Perhaps you are a committed practioner ready to dive in a bit deeper. There are many reasons why people choose our training.
I believe we teach only what we have directly experienced. Yoga is something that must be enquired into, reflected upon, assimilated and integrated. For me, this is the ‘vinyasa’, or ‘intelligent steps‘ of learning and teaching this ancient practice.
Ray of Light teacher training is an opportunity for us to walk this path together; through personal practice, chanting, reflection and immersion in the philosophy. Come and join me on this exploration into your yoga.

Yoga Therapist / Yoga Teacher / Psychotherapist / Ayurvedic Practitioner
Yoga first came into Rachel’s life in London in the late 90’s she was in awe of the serenity she experienced, she had come home. After some heart-break she went on a healing journey which ignited her love affair with India in 2006, it was there she heard the call to teach. On returning to Australia she studied under the guidance of Katie Mantisas (Jivamukti Yoga) completing her first teacher training in 2007, her purpose was clear. Rachel see’s herself as the forever student she has continues to deepen into life as a sacred practice which involves asana, meditation, chanting mantra, kirtan and cooking.
Rachel has found her life’s purpose and she would love to inspire you to find yours. Over the past eleven years of teaching Rachel has integrated her learning creating a methodical approach to Vinyasa Yoga. This includes intelligent sequence design, the weaving of Yogic philosophy and real-life story telling along with chanting into the Yoga practice. Rachel loves how her students can choose from a range of Yoga tools so that the practice can really be made available to all students.
Rachel teaches the courses and workshops at her home studio in Bulli which she has created over the past 9 years with the loving support of her husband Michael. She leads retreats in Australia, Europe, Bali and India. Rachel also offers ongoing mentoring to teachers who have completed the Ray of light teacher training or those looking to continue their exploration of Yoga philosophy and teaching. She loves how the Yoga family is expanding and celebrates the rich diversity in the students who attend her courses.
Rachel brings with her thirteen years of clinical experience as a counselling therapist, therapeutic group work facilitator and trainer. Rachel holds a Diploma in Counselling and group work, Graduate Diploma in Relationship Counselling and Cert IV in training and assessment, Dip in Sport studies, Dip Sport and Leisure Management. Her interest in Ayurveda prompted her to seek out teachers such as Dr Rama Prasad, Mother Maya and David Frawley.
Rachel returns to India most years to spend time with her teachers and to continue her personal enquiry. She considers her self a devotee of the divine in her many forms. When she can she takes the opportunity to spend time at her favourite Ayurvedic retreat centre or with her teacher Dr NC in Chennai and living Saint Shakti Amma.
You will have three private consultations with Rachel over the training. These sessions are designed to support you in developing and sustaining a personal practice and individual mentoring for you in your personal and teaching journey.
Anatomy & physiology teacher
In 2008, after practicing yoga for several years, Lis travelled to India to deepen her practice. She resided at a Yoga Teacher and Ayurveda Training centre in the mountains of Southern India where she studied Hatha Yoga and gained her teacher qualifications.
Lis has been teaching yoga since 2009, both at home and while experiencing the wonders of the world, teaching in the Greek Islands, Morocco, Mexico, Ecuador, Guatemala and Bali. In 2013 Lis added to her teaching qualifications in San Francisco studying under Jasmine Tarkeshi of Laughing Lotus.
Lis will be teaching Anatomy and Physiology drawing on her Bachelors Degree in Exercise Science and Rehabilitation, and her subsequent experience working with musculoskeletal and neurological trauma in rehabilitation settings. Student teachers will be provided with a sound knowledge of human anatomy and physiology applied specifically to asana and pranayama. Lis hopes that each teacher will enjoy learning the foundations of the human body and how to adapt a practice to ensure that all students are safe in a class that offers balance, healing and nourishment.

Nicole is an Ayurvedic chef with a passion for food. Nicole is inspired by the notion that if you want to eat something you should make it yourself (and grow if it you can).
Nicole is guided by Ayurvedic philosophy when preparing meals for retreats and teacher training events. Meals are vegetarian, using seasonal ingredients as well as herbs and spices that aid digestion. You can expect belly-warming porridges, baked seasonal fruits, delicious vegetable soups, stews and dahls. There will be home made breads, chutneys and sweet treats. All meals are made fresh on site and dietary requirements are catered for.
During each weekend Nicole will share some Ayurvedic wisdom on the seasons and menu selection, you’ll recieve all recipes and inspiration to integrate this wisdom at home. Nicole is currently studying to become an Ayurvedic health counsellor with her teacher Myra Lewin from Hale Pule Ayurveda and Yoga in Hawaii.
